Job Description:

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

BUSINESS OPERATIONS ANALYST (STARLINK)

Starlink is one of the most ambitious missions that SpaceX has undertaken to date. Starlink is leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy the worlds most advanced broadband internet system and largest satellite constellation to provide fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide, connect humanity, and fund Mars colonization.

The Business Operations Analyst’s sole mandate is to enable human life on Mars and proliferate humanity’s freedom to communicate through efficient supply chain operations and production optimization at SpaceX. The role combines data analytics with supply chain planning, inventory management, and production scheduling, directly supporting SpaceX’s leadership in manufacturing and operations. Business Operations is embedded in daily operations, supporting both near-term execution (e.g., production ramps and material flows) and long-term strategic planning (e.g., capacity forecasting). Team members are expected to analyze supply chain data, forecast production needs, and to lead cross-functional decision-making and implementation to ensure on-time delivery and cost efficiency. Our team is lean and dynamic, supporting several subgroups: supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and growth. We encourage scope increase and variation across subgroups for high performers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze key performance indicators related to supply chain and production, especially inventory levels, lead times, on-time delivery rates, and capacity utilization (includes developing production planning models and decision-making tools)
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on supply chain analysis to optimize production workflows and resource allocation
  • Guide production planning and resource management (e.g., material forecasting, workforce scheduling, capacity planning) for Starlink Performance kits
  • Identify initiatives for improvement of Starlin’s production efficiency and operational outlook, including developing, tracking, and executing planning initiatives with SpaceX’s leadership
  • Work with stakeholders (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, procurement) to analyze the impact of proposed production and supply chain decisions (including actual performance) on overall operations health
  • Track, report, and proactively manage production efficiency improvements (e.g. supply chain initiatives and process optimizations) on existing and future Starlink products
  • Drive production optimization in product development for existing and future products, with a focus on establishment and attainment of output, cycle time, and demand plan
  • Project manage new country spanet launches, including coordinating production ramps, demand forecasting, and cross-functional alignment to meet launch timelines and volume requirements
  • Integrate and forecast production needs based on inputs from multiple sales channels, including primary enterprise sales as well as e-commerce, government, and retail channels, to align manufacturing output with diverse demand signals

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 1+ years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, product management, operations, management/strategy consulting or related fields
  • 1+ years of Excel or programming experience (e.g., for production forecasting models or data analysis)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment
  • Quantitative dual degree in engineering, operations management, supply chain management or business field and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated success driving tangible impact/influencing within a broader organization, particularly in production or project management contexts
  • Excellent analytical skills (e.g. python, SQL, tableau, power BI, power query, Microsoft Office suite, Excel modeling, or similar data manipulation tools for production forecasting and scheduling)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly with senior operations, manufacturing, and sales
  • Experience driving urgency and extreme ownership in fast-paced production and launch environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., leading cross-functional project teams or working successfully in manufacturing collaborations) and analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, especially in demand forecasting, capacity planning, and spanet launch coordination
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and channel teams
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively with planning timelines and project milestones
  • Experience in project management for product or spanet launches, including timeline management and stakeholder coordination

ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS:

  • Willing to travel between SpaceX production sites to support Starlink product, spanet, and business operations
  • Ability to work extended hours including nights and/or weekends when needed

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
