Job Description:

Icelandair is a lively workplace with operations in Iceland, Europe, and North America. We are one of Icelands largest and most diverse companies and work in an international, ever-changing environment. We fly to multiple cities in Europe, the United States, and Canada, as well as destinations within Iceland and in Greenland.

Icelandair is seeking a Network Analyst to join the Network Planning & Scheduling department. This is a 1-year temporary position, with the potential of becoming permanent.

Network Planning & Scheduling is responsible for developing Icelandair’s route network, maintaining the flight schedule, and managing seat capacity across our international and domestic operations. The team is part of Icelandair’s Commercial Division and works closely with colleagues in Revenue Management, Sales, Operations, and Finance.

The aviation industry is constantly evolving and so are we. The Network Planning & Scheduling team has undergone significant transformation in recent years, adopting advanced optimization tools and a highly collaborative, flexible working culture. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment where analytical skills, attention to detail, and cross-functional communication are essential.

As a Network Analyst, you’ll be part of the network planning team within Network Planning & Scheduling. You’ll contribute to decision-making that shapes our network—whether through evaluating new routes, optimizing existing ones, or analyzing performance across seasons and spanets. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems and is eager to work with data to drive results.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify new spanet opportunities and track key economic trends that would impact existing route network
  • Build business cases for new or adjusted routes in collaboration with stakeholders and model profitability of any capacity adjustments.
  • Conduct competitive analysis, including monitoring competitor schedules and spanet developments
  • Simulate different network scenarios in NetLine/Plan and interpret their impact on profitability and operational performance
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects that support commercial and operational decision-making
  • Create and deliver clear, compelling presentations to stakeholders across the business

Qualifications:

  • University education in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or similar)
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret and present complex datasets clearly and effectively
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (Excel required; knowledge of SQL, Python, R, or Power BI is an advantage)
  • Interest or experience in the aviation industry is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • High motivation, problem-solving skills, and ability to take initiative
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Icelandair‘s policy promotes equality and diversity among employees and encourages individuals of all genders to apply.

If you are interested in the role, we encourage you to apply with your CV and cover letter at your earliest convenience.

We will review applications as they come in and close for new applications once the role has been filled.
