To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable professional to join our team as a Payroll Specialist in our Payroll Department. The primary responsibility of the position is to accurately process pay for employees in compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations. The successful candidate will be able to perform detailed work with accuracy, confidentiality, and promptness. This position will report to the Payroll Supervisor.
Essential Duties:
Process biweekly or semimonthly payroll for all employees in accordance with company policies and federal/state regulations
Collect and verify timekeeping information from employees
Enter data into payroll systems accurately and on time
Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies and answering employee payroll-related inquiries
Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with internal policies and legal regulations
Support with garnishments, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and other payroll-related changes
Generate standard payroll reports as needed
Collaborate with Human Resources, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure data integrity and consistency
Assist with year-end processing, including W-2s and other required forms
Job Qualifications and Competencies:
Proficient computer skills, especially with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills and a collaborative approach
Ability to perform detailed work accurately, confidentially, and promptly
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or another related field
Two (2) years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state or complex payroll environment
Familiarity with Workday payroll software
Work Environment:
Standard office environment, use of telephones, computers, and other office equipment
May require extended hours during payroll deadlines or year-end processes
Some travel may be required

Starting Rate:
