As a Safety Specialist, dnata Travel, you will deliver expert guidance and support to the business on all Occupational Health and Safety matters, aiming to minimise risk, ensure safe operational practices and drive continual safety performance improvement through coaching.
In this role, you will:
- Support the development of safety objectives and performance targets aligned with dnata safety management systems
- Collaborate with business units to deliver safety improvement plans and intervention strategies
- Lead Safe Place and Safe Person observation programme implementation across operations
- Oversee significant incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
- Develop safety campaigns informed by performance data and emerging trends
- Prepare for and participates in internal self-assessments and external safety audits
- Coach and mentor trainee safety advisors to strengthen capability and development
- Lead safety-related project teams to design and execute targeted interventions
- Liaise with senior safety stakeholders to ensure alignment on performance and standards
QualificationTo be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Bachelors degree, diploma or other tertiary qualification in training, safety or another related field, from an international institute or association
- 8+ years of experience in safety including at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role
- Must be comfortable physically working in conditions relevant to operations
- Must have demonstrable experience of being able to mentor, train & coach entry level Safety Advisors
- Must be comfortable with a field-based role
You’ll have an edge if you have:
- Expert knowledge of interpreting Organisational Health & Safety regulations and applying safety codes across operations
- Strong skills in incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Proficiency in behavioural safety principles and observation programmes
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organisation
- Technical knowledge and advanced computer and IT capabilities
- Excellent planning and organisational skills in high-pressure environments
- A strong background of collecting, analysing and interpreting safety data
- A confident approach to presenting and are a skilled facilitator in safety forums and workshops
- Advanced professional writing skills for reports procedures and communications
