Job Description:
Responsibilities

The Senior Wireless (Wi-Fi) Network Engineering provides engineering, deployment of engineering solutions, optimization, and support services for wireless networks. Provide technical expertise and hands on support in wireless network analysis, design, planning, assessment, development, and implementation. Responsible for leading end-to-end design efforts, including architecting key elements of the solution, evaluating technical options, and final solution implementation while keeping key stakeholders apprised. Acts as a primary escalation support resource for providing recommendations and initiating necessary corrective actions to ensure optimal wireless network performance. This position provides technical consulting support ongoing projects, network device configurations, network recommendations to support business applications, manages Vendors on implementation of services, and manages system issues and provide escalated support related to IT Network and other IT Infrastructure environments.

  • Provide top-level support and ownership of the wireless network infrastructure by optimizing stability, availability, reliability, and performance. Manage and support the wireless network infrastructure.
  • Design wireless network topologies, architectures, and services that solve complex business requirements. Identify service delivery conflicts to implement alternatives, while communicating issues of technology impact on the business.
  • Develops technical and business relationships and integrates activities with other departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts. Collects and analyzes business requirements for large, multi-functional projects. Performs feasibility studies, translating requirements into an appropriate design.
  • Assist Application and IT teams with assessment of new technologies, application upgrades, and general technical support to ensure the wireless network infrastructure meets business requirements. Manage project activities for wireless network services in alignment with business/customer "Go Live" schedules.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to wireless designs which include configurations for wireless access points, antennas, cabling, and controllers.
  • Set and ensure network best practices and standards are maintained with a heavy concentration on cybersecurity.
  • Performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for network outages.
  • Ensure project goals and deadlines are met in a dynamic environment.

 


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or similar.
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or similar is highly preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience as a Network Engineer in enterprise and dispersed organizations
  • Analyze results of validation and verification testing including parametric and regression testing to ensure implementations meet Spirit requirements.

Certifications

  • CWNA - Certified Wireless Network Administrator.
  • CWSP - Certified Wireless Security Professional.
  • CCIE – Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert
  • CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate.

Specialized Skills

  • Expert knowledge of MIMO, SISO, MCS index, and general RF characteristics.
  • Strong knowledge in Rate Vs Range , Rate Vs Orientation and Interference Scenarios
  • Working experience with different test equipment: Network analyzer, Signal generator, Signal analyzer, Octoscope, Chariot, Veriwave, etc
  • Experience in troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues, including connectivity, performance (Throughput), Interoperability
  • Experience in validating WPA2/WPA3-PSK security protocols
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/UDP, IP protocols and understanding of the OSI model
  • Strong knowledge of RF calibrations and RF metrics
  • Experience in validating Band steering, Mu-MIMO, Wi-Fi Mesh, BSS coloring, TWT (Target wake time) and OFDMA
  • Deep knowledge of Wi-Fi troubleshooting and RCA (Root Cause Analysis)
  • Ensure correct software & hardware management – propose and implement system enhancements; plan, test, implement operating system upgrades; install OS, maintenance releases, critical fixes, and service packs; assist with application upgrades and installations.
  • Monitor Network interfaces – LAN/WAN interfaces; troubleshoot QoS and TCP/IP issues on servers; DNS and DHCP configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to talk to Team Members across the organization from entry level to executive management.

  • Able to quickly learn the industry, the organization and its’ areas of improvement to mobilize and prioritize projects.
