Are you ready to see your future take flight? At GE Aerospace, we are advancing aviation technologies for today and tomorrow. Your work will contribute to the production of advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems that power commercial aircraft. You’ll be part of a team that embraces your drive, your curiosity, and your unique ideas and perspectives. Most importantly, you’ll share in our pride and purpose that affects the lives of millions around the world.Shape the Sound of the Future of Flight! We’re seeking a Staff Acoustics Engineer to lead advanced acoustic analysis, prediction, and noise-control strategies for our commercial and military aircraft engines. This role is central to defining how our engines are heard by passengers, communities, and customers from concept development through certification and service. You will architect and advance acoustic modeling tools, guide component and system-level noise-reduction strategies, and ensure that our products meet evolving regulatory, customer, and community noise expectations. You’ll work across disciplines including aerodynamics, aerothermal, structures, and systems integration to embed acoustics into engine architecture decisions.Job Description
What You’ll Do
As the Staff Acoustics Engineer, you will:
- Lead acoustic strategy and requirementsDefine engine and aircraft community noise assessment approaches, translate regulations and customer needs into acoustic requirements, and guide noise-reduction strategies across the product lifecycle.
- Advance acoustic modeling and toolsDevelop, modernize, and validate computational aeroacoustics (CAA) tools and workflows; run CAA/CFD analyses on turbomachinery and propulsion components to support design optimization and noise reduction.
- Drive design, test, and correlationPlan and support acoustic tests at component, rig, and engine level; analyze and post-process data; correlate predictions with measurements and feed results back into design and tools.
- Collaborate and influencePartner with aerodynamics, systems, and program teams; serve as a key acoustic technical interface for internal leadership, customers, and airframers; clearly communicate complex acoustic tradeoffs and recommendations.
- Mentor and improveCoach junior engineers, lead technical reviews, support IP creation, and champion continuous improvement in acoustic methods, processes, and best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
You are an acoustics-focused systems thinker who combines deep technical expertise in aircraft, engine or turbo machinery aeroacoustics with strong collaboration skills to reduce engine and community noise. You’re energized by advancing tools and methods, mentoring others, and shaping the acoustic signature of the next generation of propulsion systems.
What You’ll Bring
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
- At least 7 years of industry experience in acoustics, aircraft engine, and/or CAA/CFD applications
- Demonstrated experience with engine or aircraft community noise prediction or component-level aeroacoustics
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Engineering or related field with a focus in acoustics or aeroacoustics
- 10+ years of experience in propulsion noise, computational aeroacoustics, or related turbomachinery applications
- Demonstrated experience performing computational aeroacoustics analyses on high-performance computing (HPC) resources
- Familiarity with acoustic testing, including test planning, data acquisition, post-processing, and evaluation
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or FORTRAN for tool development, data processing, and workflow automation
- Experience leading, documenting, planning, and promoting technical programs and projects in acoustics or noise reduction
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with a track record of influencing cross-functional teams
- Experience collaborating with global teams, airframers, and/or regulatory stakeholders on acoustic topics
