Job PurposeA Composite Bonder performs repairs on parts/components by means of "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg". Some repairs must be facilitated by the use of a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave. Types of Composite bonding methods utilized in repair may consist of: Co-curing, Co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film. Education & Experience Requirements
* Must have a High School Diploma or GED (must be on resume).
* Must possess a valid driver’s license approved for airline travel, and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
* Journeyman: A minimum of 0-5 years of experience as a Composite Bonder Technician.
* Master: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Composite Bonder Technician.
* Must be able to read and understand blueprints, SRMs, the Manufacturer’s Maintenance Manual, and other documents.
* Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language.
* Must be able to work with a team and be a team player.
* Must be self-motivated and perform in a fast-paced environment.
* Must be proficient in using close-tolerance measuring tools. Essential Job Duties
* Perform bonding of metallic and nonmetallic materials (such as graphite, fiberglass, plastic, boron, epoxy resins, rubber, etc.) to fabricate parts, components, and assemblies for aircraft applications.
* Utilize various composite bonding methods, including co-curing, co-bonding, secondary bonding, and metal bonding with liquid and film adhesives.
* Fabricate composite and metal parts into subassemblies for pre-fitting in preparation for bonding/curing in presses, ovens, and autoclaves.
* Lay out, pre-fit, assemble, and perform lay-up on a variety of metal-to-metal and composite bonded assemblies.
* Fit the core into panels requiring close tolerances for detail installation.
* Perform vacuum bagging for autoclave cures (up to 100 psi). Your Sense of Responsibility
* Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits
* Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
* Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
* Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
* Follow all company and safety rules during the performance of duties.
* Maintain customer-oriented work habits. Physical Requirements
* Lifts 50 lbs.
* Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
* Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
* Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas
* Standing for long periods of time. Mental Requirements
* Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
* Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
* Work with others in a professional manner. Supervision
* Work under the supervision of the assigned Team Leader. Working Conditions
* Work is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses
* Multiple Departments to include: Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelles, Composite Equipment Used
* Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
* Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
