Position Summary
The Material Handling Technician I position is responsible for issuing, picking, material necessary to fill / prepare orders for production.
Reports to: Materials Manager, Value Stream Team Lead, Value Stream Manager, Plant Manager and/or Operations
Scope/Supervision: Interfaces with multiple areas of the manufacturing area, Quality Dept, Engineering and Supply Chain. Works under limited supervision. No supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Issues, pick, and packs material necessary to fill orders from pick list for production.
- Works from bill of materials list.
- Uses computer, scale,
hoist, stacker unit (walkie), storage units, RFID gun, tugger, and hand tools as required. - Ensures inventory on hand and list is in agreement.
- Maintains quality and timely service at all times.
- Alerts proper personnel of problems that could affect production or Quality.
- Follows and adheres to all safety and housekeeping rules and procedures.
- Adheres to the quality management system.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Qualifications:
- Must have basic computer, math and industrial skills.
- Must be mechanically competent.

- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others
- Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.

- Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
- Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures.

Physical Requirements:
Frequent: Walking, Reaching Outward, and Bending Lifting 10-50 lbs.
Constant: Handling/Gripping, Standing, Lifting 10- 25 lbs.
Occasionally: Push/Pull 12 lbs. – 50 lbs.
Work Environment/PPE:
Air Quality: Good
Temperature: Good. Air conditioning and heat supplied for entire plant.
Floor Condition: Good. Rubber mats provided. Areas are clean and non-hazardous.
Workspace: Good. Uncluttered (5-S implemented)
Hazards: JSAs for work processes available
PPE: Safety Glasses; Safety Shoes with Metatarsal covers; other items as needed for particular job (gloves, sleeves, etc….)
