JOB SUMMARY:
Polish aircraft parts in preparation for plating and also polish and protect parts that only require polishing per FES 179.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Works from blueprints, CATIA / 3DX, company standards, and work instructions.
Works in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA and company safety procedures.
Ability to polish parts to produce a cosmetically acceptable part for our customers.
Sets up and operates standard shop equipment.
Conceives and manufactures shop aid tools, as necessary, to improve repetitiveness and cost with approval of management.
Accurately logs computerized labor data collection for time and attendance tracking.
Grinds, sands, trims, scrapes, cleans, or polishes parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing using hand tools and power tools.
Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by discussing ideas with other polishers, team leads, or supervisors, as needed.
Polishes and finishes parts such as glass racks, kick plates, stainless steel, threshold plate, door handles, etc. to remove defects by applying different techniques & methods using angle grinders & sanders according to FES requirements.
Sets up and operates machines & equipment (upright polisher, belt sander) to polish and finish parts depending on part size and wheel size according to machine manuals and verbal instructions
NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Assists other personnel on specific job assignments.
Performs all other duties as assigned
Manage usage of shop supplies
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to work from blueprints, sketches or diagrams.
Able to set up and operate all standard shop equipment.
Able to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must not be allergic to aluminum dust or buffing compounds.
Able to stand approximately 8 hours a day and buff parts on a buffing machine.
Able to work well with other team members.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of metals and their characteristics in relation to the effects of polishing.
A good understanding of what is acceptable preparation for the plating process.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Air-conditioned room, typically dusty environment, requires a dust mask to be worn at all times.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position typically falls between $29.00 and $37.31 per hour. This position is eligible for overtime. This position may be eligible for shift differential or relocation assistance. Note, the final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
