Job Summary:
The Aircraft Mechanic II will perform scheduled and unscheduled O-Level maintenance on FA-18 airframes, including structural, corrosion control, and hydraulic systems. The role includes providing technical leadership, mentoring junior mechanics, and ensuring maintenance quality and compliance with U.S. Navy standards. Candidates must possess in-depth knowledge of FA-18 airframe systems and experience supervising maintenance teams in a high-tempo operational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Maintenance & Operations:
Conduct airframe and structural maintenance and repairs on FA-18 aircraft.
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues using technical data, maintenance manuals, and engineering drawings.
Perform corrosion control, painting, and hydraulic system maintenance.
Operate Ground Support Equipment and perform flight line essential services.
Support and perform Engine Turn and Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) operations.
Leadership & Oversight:
Assign and monitor tasks for Level I mechanics.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
Prioritize workload to meet maintenance schedules and mission readiness.
Serve as team lead on complex maintenance efforts and modifications.
Ensure compliance with FOD, safety, and quality control standards.
Investigate maintenance incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Compliance & Documentation:
Comply with CNAFINST 4790.2 series regulations and other applicable standards.
Support maintenance documentation and aircraft logbook entries as required.
Prepare reports on maintenance status and discrepancies.
Participate in safety drills, FOD walkdowns, and other scheduled activities.

Experience:
- 10+ years of U.S. Navy/USMC/USCG O-Level maintenance experience.
- 3+ years FA-18 airframe-specific experience (preferably within last 7 years).
Training:
- Completion of Navy Class C School for Airframes and hydraulics on the FA-18.
- Former CDI (Collateral Duty Inspector) qualification in FA-18 Airframes.
- Leadership: Experience as Work Center Supervisor required; Plane Captain, QAR, CDQAR, or Flight Deck Coordinator experience strongly preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Availability: Must be able to work any shift and travel as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with Navy maintenance and inspection protocols.
- Ability to lead and manage maintenance crews with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with aircraft maintenance documentation systems.
Education: High School
