Role Objective:

Responsible for the quality control and return-to-service authorization of assigned aircraft articles, components, and parts, including completion and review of all work orders and required documentation from pre-planning through final delivery. This role also serves as a secondary quality control function within the parts warehouse, performing an additional “second set of eyes” inspection on parts that have already been quality checked by inspectors at other hangar locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and readiness prior to release to the customer.

Conduct physical inspections of aircraft, components, and associated documentation to ensure all workmanship meets established quality standards and that all items are returned to service in a safe, airworthy condition with complete and compliant documentation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine inspection status of aircraft undergoing scheduled maintenance, as assigned.
  • Perform secondary quality control inspections on parts received from other hangars prior to shipment to customers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Audit inspection and maintenance work packages generated during maintenance and repair activities.
  • Collaborate with production personnel, Team Leaders, Lead Technicians, and Technicians to ensure accurate and complete documentation within company work order packages.
  • Generate maintenance record entries for aircraft, engines, propellers, and accessories in accordance with 14 CFR Part 43 and Repair Station Manual requirements, including completion of FAA Forms 337 and 8130-3 as applicable.
  • Assist in surveillance of repair station facilities and procedures; report findings to the Chief Inspector.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Manager and Chief Inspector in developing and improving QA processes and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining technical publication libraries across the repair station.
  • Support tracking and calibration of inspection and test equipment used for product acceptance.
  • Ensure proper execution and submission of Malfunction or Defect Reports (FAA Form 8010-4) within required regulatory timeframes (14 CFR 145.221).
  • Assist in receiving inspections of parts and materials as needed.
  • Verify proper documentation of preliminary, hidden damage, and final inspections for all assigned items.
  • Make accurate entries in maintenance logs and work orders in accordance with regulatory and operator requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready Quality Department workspace.
  • Provide additional support to the Quality Assurance Manager and Chief Inspector as required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Operate a telephone requiring oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with customers and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Some Physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to move from department and buildings to interact with others.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Stands at least 75 of each workday. 
  • Other motions: standing; walking; repetitive motion hand - wrist; fingering; grasping; feeling; handling; hearing; talking; seeing; eye-hand coordination. 
  • High organizational, time management and logic skills required
  • Ability to work at a desk in an office environment for extended periods of time
  • Availability during nights, weekends, & holidays as needed. Must be capable of maintaining a flexible schedule, including the willingness to occasionally work extended hours as per project demands and organizational needs.

Travel:

Some travel is required.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Minimum ten years of experience in maintaining aircraft with verifiable practical experience as an active aircraft mechanic in a maintenance organization.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Part 145 environment.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge and understanding of FARs, aircraft technical bulletins, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, aircraft systems, and the ability to communicate this knowledge to the required persons.
  • Previous Director of Maintenance or Chief Inspector experience preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification or license (A&P)
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver license and must meet the companys vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Must pass a background check.
