Job Description:

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SUPERVISOR, WASTEWATER TREATMENT (STARLINK PCB)

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. We are looking for talented, creative, and driven supervisors to drive manufacturing tools and processes, from initial concept development to full scale production. You will drive the relationship between engineering, development, and production teams and will interact regularly with department leadership. The success of Starlink depends on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, security, and user experience of the products that you deliver.

As a Starlink Wastewater Treatment Supervisor, you will manage a team of technicians while working closely with specialists and engineers, driving the operationalization and ramp of a 24/7 state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant with the mission of recycling process water from various Starlink production lines. The supervisor will also drive progress on an hour-by-hour and day-by-day basis by effectively using labor resources, prioritizing work, and setting goals. For this role specifically, it is highly important that the supervisor is an inspiring leader, frequently working side-by-side with their team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage a team of technicians, including performance management related tasks
  • Supervise shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow
  • Effectively organize, assign, and track work/deliverables for the team, ensuring seamless progression through multi-shift work schedules
  • Prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals
  • Support transitioning equipment from engineering development to full rate production
  • Develop standard work instructions and PM schedules
  • Identify training needs and develop a training program
  • Provide required data and reporting to support department metrics and improvements
  • Maximize productivity, efficiency, and quality
  • Maintain tooling and consumable supply inventory
  • Continuously improve people, process, and equipment
  • Identify and mitigate risks to production schedules and targets
  • Coordinate efforts to minimize production interruptions
  • Ensure process quality and conformance to specifications
  • Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement
  • Use root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of professional experience in a water treatment or waste water treatment plant in lieu of degree
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team or project

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience leading a team or project
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret controlled documentation such as wiring diagrams, layout drawings, mechanical drawings, GD&T, assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast-paced work environment
  • Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related software

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available for one of the following shifts (start and end times are approximate):
    • A Shift – 5:00am-5:00pm, Sunday-Wednesday
    • B Shift – 5:00am-5:00pm, Wednesday-Saturday
