JOB SUMMARY:
To ensure technical expertise of the Digital Flight Control System. Responsible for testing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing all aspects of the FBW system during both the Production and Flight Line phases. Provide FBW support for all test flights and Customer Deliveries, as well as to ensure the airworthiness of the Flight control systems. To perform updates and modifications to FBW system as needed or required. Travel to various approved Service Centers or Facilities to provide technical assistance/ support, or perform FBW upgrades and test.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
(Identify functions affecting the airworthiness of the aircraft by using the prefix “CRITICAL”)
a) Assist the DFJ Team to find causes or problems during the aircraft departure or between flights
b) CRITICAL - Communicate between DFJ and DEQ concerning FCS operations, discrepancies and/or issues
c) CRITICAL - Prepare, ship and receive all applicable FBW parts and components
d) CRITICAL - Organize and maintain parts inventory and tooling to include calibration requirements
e) Set priorities and effectively work alone or with limited support
a) CRITICAL - Complete functional testing of FCS system integrity
b) CRITICAL - Check aircraft after completion
c) CRITICAL - Determine the airworthiness of FCS system
d) CRITICAL - Repair FBW system as required
e) CRITICAL - Perform both hardware and software upgrades to the FBW system
f) CRITICAL - Use special delegation from DFJ QC to sign-off FCS discrepancies
g) CRITICAL - Use special delegation from DED to upgrade and upload components
a) Ensure timely repair/problem resolution related to the FCS system
b) Availability to work seven days a week and overtime.
a) Suggest new ideas to improve/change existing processes to reduce cost, improve quality and customer satisfaction
NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Give classroom instruction of basic FBW systems to Field Services Reps and CSMs
Help Management and Teams troubleshoot both standard and non standard issues on systems and subsystems
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
5 years of experience on aviation hydraulics, flying control system or avionics systems equivalent
Knowledge on how the FCS system works (concept, architecture, etc.)
Ability to use FCS tools needed in an FCS check or an FCS repair
Knowledge on safety rules in relation with the FCS system
In-depth troubleshooting experience
Ability to read schematics and block diagrams
Basic computer skills, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Airframe and Power Plant certificate or proof of in the process of receiving
Must be able to function throughout the total facility, including up and down stairs and in and out of aircraft with or without reasonable accommodation.
Able to operate boom/man lifts in close proximity to the AC flight control surfaces with or without reasonable accommodation.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
To be able to be in contact with France if necessary (good communication skills)
Past experience in teaching/instructing so that the person can teach FCS systems to other technicians in the future
Mechanical knowledge to be able to remove and install all FCS mechanical equipment
Meet the qualifications for DFJ/DED inspection delegation
Willingness to travel from both state to state and abroad
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical office and manufacturing environments. Must be able to work for long periods at a computer terminal. Cannot be sensitive to manufacturing noise. Travel by surface and air, including international, is required. Able to work efficiently both indoors and outdoors in non-clement controlled environments.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position typically falls between $58,543.00 and $78,193.00 per year. This position is eligible for overtime. This position may be eligible for a shift differential. Note, the final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
