Chief Technology Officer - Cybersecurity (Digital Technology)
Job Description:
The Chief Technology Officer - Cybersecurity (Cyber CTO) is an executive leader within the Cybersecurity organization, responsible for defining and driving the strategic technology agenda that enables secure, scalable, and modern digital solutions across the enterprise. The Cyber CTO will build and lead the Cyber CTO organization to provide enterprise technical guidance and cybersecurity solution architecture for critical initiatives, enable and support Enterprise Architecture standards through deep partnership with Digital Technology (DT) CTOs and Enterprise Architecture, accelerate and govern AI adoption responsibly, and drive shared cyber platform design and operations to ensure consistent patterns, guardrails, and reuse. This role focuses on strategic enablement rather than day-to-day operations, delivering the patterns, standards, and guidance that enable teams to deliver secure, compliant, and high-quality solutions at speed.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Enterprise Technical Guidance & Cyber Solutioning

  • Own Cyber Solution Architecture for major programs, CXO-level NTI/NPI initiatives, and material changes in the technology landscape.

  • Define and maintain modern, scalable architecture patterns that guide teams toward secure, high-quality solutions.

  • Provide security architecture guidance to DT CTO teams, product teams, and P&L design teams, including secure design patterns and reference architectures.

  • Lead cyber consulting for solution design, including early engagement on new applications, platforms, and digital products.

  • Partner with Product Owners and engineering teams to translate strategy into practical design guidance and patterns that accelerate delivery.

Architecture & Assessment

  • Build and lead a cross-functional architecture and strategy team with expertise across applications, platforms, data, cloud, and cyber domains.

  • Establish and steward enterprise-wide technology standards, frameworks, and guardrails for cybersecurity.

  • Define and maintain architecture topology for key cyber platforms, tools, and services (including IAAS/PAAS environments for microservices).

  • Own Cyber Technology Strategy and roadmap, aligned with Enterprise Architecture and DT strategy.

  • Oversee architecture assessments for key solutions and platforms, ensuring risk, resilience, and regulatory requirements are addressed by design.

AI Enablement & Governance

  • Govern AI responsibly to enable business adoption at pace while managing cyber and compliance risk.

  • Define and lead an AI skunk works / innovation team within Cyber to evaluate, test, and operationalize new AI capabilities and controls.

  • Operationalize AI in Cybersecurity, including AI-powered detection, automation, analytics, and decision support.

  • Partner with DT, data, and business leaders to enable AI solutions safely (patterns, controls, and technical guidance for AI platforms, models, and applications).

  • Define and enforce risk tolerance thresholds for AI use cases, balancing speed and innovation with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and socialize guidance, playbooks, and standards for AI-related tools and platforms used across DT and the business.

Cyber Platforms Design & Build

  • Lead design and build of shared cyber platforms, including reference architecture, patterns, and underlying technology stack.

  • Own the Cyber Data Fabric, including integration patterns, data governance standards, and data enablement for Cyber (e.g., “Cyber Lake”).

  • Oversee data visualization capabilities for cyber data and analytics to enable insight-driven decision-making.

  • Provide standards, frameworks, and guardrails for IAAS/PAAS hosting, microservices, and other core technology environments from a security perspective.

  • Ensure platforms and tools are designed for consistency, resilience, reuse, and scalability across the enterprise.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years in technology, cybersecurity, or architecture roles, with significant leadership experience in large, complex enterprises (preferably aerospace and defense, critical infrastructure, or highly regulated industries).

  • Proven track record leading enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or platform strategy at scale.

  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, architectures, and controls, including cloud, data, and application security.

  • Experience with AI/ML platforms and use cases, and associated security, privacy, and governance considerations.

  • Demonstrated success in building and leading multidisciplinary teams, with a focus on architecture, platforms, and innovation.

  • Strong ability to influence CXO-level stakeholders, navigate complex organizations, and drive alignment without direct control.

  • This role is remote, with a preference for candidates located near or able to work from Cincinnati, OH; Atlanta, GA; or Livonia, MI.

  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Digital Technology organizations supporting global engineering, manufacturing, or industrial operations.

  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to aerospace and defense (e.g., export controls, NIST, etc.).

  • Hands-on familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, IAAS/PAAS, and modern data platforms.

  • Background in AI security, model risk, or data governance for AI.

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, TOGAF, SABSA) a plus.
