Position SummaryThe Cost Estimator is involved at the front end of a program and projects creating estimates for recurring and non-recurring costs to support the development of a business case and/or quote to a customer. These estimates may go through multiple iterations working with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, MRO and Business Development. The Cost Estimator should be capable of developing “Should Costs” for products. This would apply to both manufactured and purchased products. It is essential that this role establishes a robust database of cost, to support ‘off the shelf’ or ‘similar to’ parts which are most of our recurring estimates. This position will also be involved in Capital projects to help estimate the engineering costs, materials, labor, equipment, consulting, and travel. Daily interaction with customers and operational teams including supply chain and manufacturing functions. Be able to organize and coordinate priorities. Work with team members at different levels and in multiple functions.

Essential Functions•    Research and prepare cost estimates encompassing engineering costs, materials, labor, equipment, and travel as defined in the project scope.•    Research, develop and document comprehensive project scope and assumptions that align with the business needs and customer request.•    Manage the documentation of project cost data and track project progress against estimates for quarterly reporting.•    Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Procurement teams to define manufacturing BOMs/Routings and technical requirements.•    Coordinate with the business, including but not limited to, the originator (typically, program managers, business development and spaneting) to clarify project requirements and ensure accurate estimates for out-of-scope work and new bids and proposals.•    Periodic maintenance and review with PM on program ship set costs, overhaul maintenance sheets, and other requirements, to be held as a reference for ad hoc information requests.•    Chair the weekly cost request review to provide updates and introduce new cost requests for prioritization.

Qualifications•    Bachelor degree required with preference in Finance/Accounting/Engineering fields. An MBA or a professional designation is preferred.•    Eight or more years of major professional accomplishments, including increasing responsibility and overall leadership of projects for five or more years. Demonstrated ability to perform the described role and responsibilities and achieve the desired results.•    Thorough understanding of business systems and controls. Ability to control costs and effectively implement programs with impact to group-wide efforts. Highly effective and persuasive in developing and maintaining customer/internal client relationships.
