Primary Function:
To analyze rejected inspection information, work with production supervisors, engineering and quality personnel to determine whether to route castings for rework or scrap based on program standards, cost and/or repair feasibility; to oversee rework routing generation on production castings and assure the quality of products leaving the area comply with fixed process, customer, and internal quality requirements. To assist with physical movement of production work orders throughput the building. To assist and, at time, champion continuous improvement projects associated with reducing rework or improving processes or work instructions.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Rework Production Flow – evaluation of Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), Visual/Dimensional Inspection (Vis/Dim) and Radiographic Imaging (X-Ray) Inspection rejections at a work order specific level for repair through generation of pre-established, fixed process repair routers
Rework Analysis – work with production supervisors and engineering/quality personnel to maximize rework success potential while minimizing scrap and rework costs
Works to coordinate rework decisions with supervisors and engineering personnel
Evaluates rework options and determines repair methods available that comply with fixed process and procedural requirements. Coordinates repair decisions with supervisor and engineering as needed.
Assure proper and efficient routing for rework repairs and completes necessary paperwork. Prepares paperwork for scrapping castings, with approval if required. Enters routing/analysis information in computer or manual system. Completes work order splits and other work order corrections as needed.
Supports and, at times, champions continuous improvement projects related to rework/scrap costs as well as process and work instruction improvements to minimize business expenditures.
Supports movement physical movement of product throughout the facility to ensure production operators and work centers have adequate inventory available throughout the shift.
Performs other tasks as directed.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Working knowledge of the investment casting process and visual/dimensional inspection criteria is preferred.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow specifications on Tech Cards, blueprints, procedures, and drawings.
Ability to work independently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty five pounds.
Able to use Microsoft Office applications and have previous computer experience.
