Icelandair is seeking a Scheduling Consultant to join the Network Planning & Scheduling department. This is a 1-year temporary position, with the potential of becoming permanent.

Network Planning & Scheduling is responsible for developing Icelandair’s route network, maintaining the flight schedule, and managing seat capacity across our international and domestic operations. The team is part of Icelandair’s Commercial Division and works closely with colleagues in Revenue Management, Sales, Operations, and Finance.

The aviation industry is constantly evolving and so are we. The Network Planning & Scheduling team has undergone significant transformation in recent years, adopting advanced optimization tools and a highly collaborative, flexible working culture. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced environment where analytical skills, attention to detail, and cross-functional communication are essential.

As a Scheduling Consultant, you’ll be part of the scheduling team within Network Planning & Scheduling. You’ll contribute to shaping Icelandair‘s flight schedule and the processes that support it.

This role is ideal for someone with airline scheduling experience from a larger organization, who is looking to step into a more hands-on environment. At Icelandair, you’ll be part of a small, agile team where your ideas are heard, your work has visible impact, and youre empowered to help shape both the flight schedule and the way we work.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the creation and implementation of short- and long-term flight schedules, including codeshare, cargo and charter flights
  • Manage aircraft availability and coordinate changes due to fleet performance, maintenance, or operational constraints
  • Participate in the submission, negotiation, and follow-up of strategic slot filings, and maintain close relationships with global slot stakeholders
  • Drive forward-looking schedule analysis focused on profitability, feasibility, and operational robustness
  • Increase team efficiency by reducing manual tasks through automatic solutions or new processes
  • Advance the team’s data-driven approach through the development of new analytic, optimization and simulation models.

Qualifications:

  • University education fit for purpose (e.g. within an analytical discipline in the area of Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or Business)
  • 5-10+ years experience within aviation network planning and scheduling
  • Deep understanding of airline scheduling systems (NetLine, Altea, SchedConnect) and industry standards (SSIM, IATA slot messages)
  • Proven analytical skills and experience working with profitability, operational, and slot data
  • Ability to mentor colleagues and lead initiatives independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills, commercial awareness, and critical thinking
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Problem solving skills and a sharp commercial acumen
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • High motivation, goal-orientation and the ability get involved in & lead projects when required
  • Fluent English (written & verbal).
