As a Sonographer, you will provide critical diagnostic support by performing high-quality ultrasound examinations, enabling accurate medical assessments and improved patient outcomes. This includes the skilled operation of ultrasound technology to capture detailed images of internal organs, tissues, and vascular structures. Adhere to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout all procedures.
In this role, you will:Perform routine and specialised ultrasound examinations—including abdominal, obstetric, gynaecological, vascular, and musculoskeletal scans—assessing images for diagnostic purposes and collaborating closely with radiologists or referring clinicians for interpretation.
Prepare patients by explaining procedures, verifying medical history, and ensuring their privacy and comfort throughout the examination. Adjust equipment and patient positioning to minimise discomfort while confirming the correct procedure is being performed.
Ensure all ultrasound images meet clinical standards for diagnostic quality by evaluating image clarity, contrast, and presence of artefacts. Adhere strictly to DHA infection control and radiation safety protocols, including thorough equipment disinfection and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Operate, calibrate, and maintain ultrasound machines, promptly reporting any malfunctions or equipment issues. Accurately document examination details and upload images and reports to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) in compliance with DHA regulations.
Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals to communicate findings, support diagnosis and treatment planning, and remain up to date with advancements in ultrasound technology and best practice through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) as mandated by DHA.
QualificationTo be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in a medical or safety-related healthcare settin
Valid licensure or registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., DHA, HAAD, MOH – UAE; ARDMS – U.S.; CSDMS – Canada; ASAR – Australia; or equivalent).
Evidence of continuing education or certification in advanced imaging modalities (e.g., CT, MRI, Ultrasound).
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an advantage.
Proven experience in sonography within hospital or diagnostic imaging settings.
Cross-training in radiography is required.
Youll have an edge if you have:Strong clinical skills with in-depth knowledge of ultrasound procedures and best practice.
Familiarity with healthcare regulations, clinical standards, and operational policies to ensure full compliance and optimal patient care.
Demonstrated evidence of progressive leadership within a clinical imaging environment.
Experience across multiple specialties—including abdominal, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts—is preferred.
Advanced certifications in specialised areas such as obstetric or gynaecological sonography would be advantageous.
Proficiency in reporting software and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
