Job Description:
Job Purpose
To design, organize, deliver and assess competency-based technical training and mentoring plans to the engineering maintenance team to enhance their skills with focus on mandatory regulatory and technical requirements, human factors, safety, efficiency, cultural behavior and cost-effectiveness.
Develops courses and manuals; evaluates and facilitates the licensing and certifying formalities for engineers and technicians as per GCAA regulations and Air Arabia adopted procedures.
Key Result Responsibilities
Works closely with HOM and engineering line managers to cconduct the necessary technical training needs analysis for the identified maintenance staff against the specified competencies and requirements for each role.
Includes the highlighted training needs results in the annual training plan to be approved by Head of Maintenance accordingly.
Provides input to the annual engineering technical training budget preparation in line with the approved plan; follows up on training expenditure and ensures it is within agreed limits. Coordinates with Finance on any payments related to the same when and as necessary.
Partners with Manager Training & Standards to design, develop and tailor a variety of theoretical and practical training courses and manuals for the technicians, engineers, and trainee technicians; accommodates ad-hoc training needs and designs as required.
Coordinates with internal/external parties to organize trainings of the different nature, ensures necessary training requirements, tools, venue, set-up, communication, and manuals are ready and timely prepared.
Delivers agreed training courses to the engineers, technicians and trainee technicians, this includes but not limited to Regulatory and Development Training (Trask Training, A320 General Familiarization, A320 Refresher, Human Factors, Fuel Tank Safety, Air Arabia Procedures), CFM/Airbus, NESB student courses, and others.
Key Result Responsibilities - Continued
Carries out necessary assessments to evaluate the competencies of the trainees for the practical and the “on the job (OTJ) trainings” in line with Air Arabia disciplines and as per agreed schedules and timeframes.
Handles the respective function related administration matters such as training attendance, training certificates, and experience letters; maintains a database of all training certificates, letters, and time sheets as necessary.
Assists the manager in carrying out benchspan studies to keep up with industry best practice and to seek opportunities for training enhancement.
Maintains awareness of the related regulations (Competent Authority) and standards in line with business requirements and training plans.
Contributes to the design and development of the respective procedures, processes, and documents to support the training department. Develops training bond agreements on case-by-case basis whenever needed.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and constantly looking for opportunities to develop his/her skills.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
Bachelor degree/Diploma in Management, Education, Adult Training or equivalent from a recognized university or institution; a degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical engineering is an advantage.
Holder of an A320(CFM-56) type rated AME license
Training Certificates such as “Train the Trainer”, “NLP”, “Instructional Technique” are a must.
Approved “Human Factors” trainer is highly desirable.
A degree or a diploma in Aircrafts Maintenance is an advantage.
Project Management certificate, alternately the proven corresponding working experience is essential.
Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting and Quality Assurance certificates and trainings are an added value. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Capable of using technology systems & tools; proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet and Web Search.
Fluent in English Language.
Work Experience
7+ years experience in training or learning and development focused role in Airlines Industry, 3 of which at least as “Aviation Maintenance Technical Instructor”, mentor, or similar in the Engineering Maintenance department in a GCAA CAR/EASA 145 or GCA/EASA 147 approved organization.
Familiar with the GCAA rules and regulations pertaining to the Engineering Maintenance, policies, procedures, manuals, technical assessments and licensing of engineers and technicians.
Very good knowledge and experience of Airbus A320 is desired.
Good experience in direct training and Online-Training or E-learning, LMS program or similar.
Extensive working experience in design, building and delivery of training plans, courses, workshops and assessment centers and in e-learning/virtual learning programs.
Excellent organizational, presentation, public speaking and motivational skills with the ability to improve and enhance staff performance and increase productivity.
Possesses effective persuasive, negotiation, problem solving and decision making skills.
Experienced in managing relationships and managing people (Skills/Experience).
Demonstrates objectivity in handling situations and perceiving/translating ideas and thoughts.
Comfortable working with tight schedules whilst meeting deadlines.
